The Datcha Project, initiated by conceptual artist Melik Ohanian since 2005, takes place in a house in a village of Armenia. For a set period of time, the artist invites people from different cultures and backgrounds to share in the temporality of the space — defined as a zone of non-production with no pre-established plan or scenario. All direct forms of representation or documents produced about what might have happened there will only be unveiled in 5 years time.
Facing this staging reality, Melik Ohanian is producing a collection of tools which participating to develop this project. After their fonctions, tools are re-integrating the art field as an art work.
Initié par l’artiste conceptuel Melik Ohanian en 2005, le Datcha Project se déroule dans une maison située dans un village en Arménie. Déterminé « zone de non production », l’artiste invite, pour une durée précise, des personnes d’horizons et de cultures différents à partager la temporalité de ce lieu, sans programme, ni scénario. Toute représentation directe ou document produit sur ce qui pourrait s’y dérouler, sera révélé avec un retard de 5 ans.
En regard à la mise en place de cette réalité, Melik Ohanian produit une collection d'outils qui permettent le développement du projet. Après leur utilisation, ces outils re-intègrent le champs de l'art comme des oeuvres.
